Coca-Cola relies on DB Cargo's round trip concept

The cooperation between DB Cargo and Coca-Cola has been a success story for years - and is far from over! This is because new locations are added to the network almost every year, and in 2023 there will already be 15 locations throughout Germany linked together on 21 rail routes. This close-knit network results in a sophisticated round-trip concept in the company's own cylinder cycle - and DB Cargo ensures that the empty and full cylinders are always available at the right locations. And it does so at a fast pace, because the concept enables the full and empty cylinders to be transported more quickly than would be conceivable in the single wagonload system.

Perfectly organised door-to-door solution

Of course, not all locations have their own rail siding. This is not even necessary, because the network has been perfected for combined transport with pre- and onward carriage by truck and is geared to the needs of Coca-Cola. The use of swap bodies ensures rapid transhipment from truck to rail and back onto the truck at the destination - a perfectly organised door-to-door solution. Coca-Cola does not have to rent or buy the required 45-foot swap bodies itself, but these are provided by DB Cargo as part of the cooperation.

The close cooperation between the two partners ensures environmentally friendly transport of the beverage bottles on a large scale, because the high transport frequency of several daily journeys saves large amounts of CO2e and reduces the burden on road traffic. So there are even more winners than the two partners.
